Bachelorette Backtalk - Eppisode Two

Umm...Seriously...Seriously? - wow.
That was horrible.

Ok I take that back, I enjoyed the first 15 minutes!

I really like both Frank and Roberto! They are definitely my favorites to win Ali's heart! I'm sad Chris had to go tonight but mostly I feel bad for him! Talk about being snubbed in the editing room; they didn't even show his exit interview or goodbye to Ali...nothing! Aww!

So since we got so snubbed I thought I'd give you guys a little flashback pic!

Welcome to Grad 2001 @ Timberline High School

Ok, now I'm embarrassed! The funny thing is...I thought I looked good that night! hahahah! Amazing how time changes our perspective eh! Chris looks cute though at least!

Anyway back to 2010 and the Bachelorette...what was you're take on the show? I'm so excited to hear your opinions, backtalk and teasing! One word...Weatherman! How on earth did he get a rose with lines like this:
"I'm a brown belt. You come at me, I'm just gonna put my hand in your face."

I would have kick both of them off Craig and Weatherman!
But let's not forget Craig's wise advice of the night:
"Ali not giving me a rose... She missed a big opportunity."
Really Craig, really! You were drunk the whole show...are you even sure who Ali is?

But I must say my favorite quote of the night came from Frank...don't get me wrong I love Frank but this just killed me!
"I'm managing a retail store while I write..." aka "I make no money!" #Fail

Ahh, Bachelorette...I will never get these hours back and I can't seem to care! At least Ali looked super cute tonight! Especially when she wasn't all dolled up...or in a bikini top with pants...I'd label that a #fail too! Now let's get this convo started! Comment away my bloggy sistas! I can't wait to hear your thoughts!

And after you comment check out a deleted scene here:

See It Again Saturday: Bandanna Shirt Tutorial

In case you missed my guest post at Seven Thirty Three this week here is again!

Bandanna Shirt Tutorial

What you'll Need:
Bandanna
T-Shirt
Embroidery Floss
Wonder Under
Iron & Ironing Board
Pencil & Scissors

Step One:
Measure your bandanna. Just eyeball it, it's supposed to be messy. Trust me!

Step Two:
Now you want your bandanna to have movement, not be "glued" to the shirt. To accomplish this place bandanna right side down on your ironing board and mess/crumple up slightly. Now iron your wonder under rough side down onto your messy bandanna.

Step Three:
Trim your bandanna to the appropriate size, flip back over and pin to the shirt.

Step Four:
Turn inside out and use a pen to trace where you want it to be on the collar, unpin and cut!

Step Five:
Peel off the backing of the Wonder Under, place on shirt, cover with a damp cloth and iron on.

Step Six:
Hand stitch around the edge with the embroidery floss and you're done! I chose not to seal the edges of the bandanna with fray check because I want it to fray a little...y'know go along with the whole "messy" thing!

Field Trip Friday with Seven Thirty Three---A Creative Blog

Hi Aly & Ash friends! I'm Kim from seven thirty three - - - a creative blog.  I'm so excited to be guest posting here today!  Thanks for having me Jax.
Let me take a quick second to tell you about the goings on at seven thirty three.

Or maybe you are looking for some helpful blog tips? Yup, I do that too! Every Sunday I post a tip to help you personalize your blog. Send me an email if you have a question you would like answered!

Here are a few of my recent projects:

Top to Bottom, Left to Right:
hello baby! banner with coffee filter "flower"
stylish cropped pants
freezer paper stencil shirts
superhero invitation
Quick bit of personal info: I am a Marketing Director by day and a mommy blogger by night. I have three gorgeous kiddos that make me smile everyday and I have a wonderful husband that supports my crafting (although right now he is crabbing about needing the computer...).
Oh and because I like you people I have decided to give you a SNEAK PEEK at my daughters 1st Birthday Party... make sure to stop by tomorrow for the FULL DETAILS!

I also have a giveaway for Father's Day starting tomorrow, so make sure not to miss it.

Alright, onto today's craft...woodland creature masks!

I am hosting a camping themed baby shower for my SIL and what camping trip isn't complete without an animal or two?  The little kids invited to the party will fill in the party nicely with these.

This tutorial is showing you how to make a Bear Mask, but see the other pictures above for the other creatures!  All were created with the same template with tweaks here and there.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
2 sheets of Felt (2 coordinating colors)
Elastic
Wonder Under or similar Fusible Web (optional)
First you will want to make a template on paper.  I just freehanded one, cut it out and measured it against my sons face to make sure it fit.  I also marked the eyes at the same time and cut those out.

Next you will want to iron your fusible web onto one of the pieces of felt (the interfacing will create a sturdier mask, but I only used it on two of my masks and didn't have a problem with the others)  Trace your mask template onto the paper of the fusible web, remove the paper backing and cut it out.  Now trace your mask again and cut out the second piece.
Iron the two pieces together. On the back of the mask (the part that will touch your childs face, trace the eyes - I did this BEFORE I ironed the pieces together and ended up having the marks transfer to my ironing board cover - OOPS!).
Cut out the inner ear pieces.  Sew them onto the mask with a zigzag stitch (you can do this BEFORE you iron the two pieces together if you don't want to see the stitch on the back of the mask).

Zigzap stitch the entire edge of your mask.  Cut out the eyes and zigzag stitch around them.  Measure the elastic against your childs head and sew it onto your mask (make sure it is nice and secure), and now you are done!
FYI: I also attemped to add the elastic before sewing the edges, which is doable, but I didn't mind seeing the elastic on the back of the mask since it doesn't show when the child is wearing it.
I managed to break my bobbin holder half way through the masks so switched to handsewing... although it took longer it was still just as easy - so no machine required!
For the duck and blue bird (not pictured) masks, I cut out a triangle for the beak and inserted it between the two pieces of the mask at the nose curve and just sewed around the edge of the mask as normal.
Hopefully these instructions were clear.  If you have any questions feel free to email me!
Hopefully I'll see a few of you over at seven thirty three today (and tomorrow - don't forget that giveaway!).
Happy Friday!

Thursday Feature: Confessions of a Cookbook Queen

Hungry yet?

I read this post this morning and found myself laughing out loud and reading it to the hubs and thought I have to share this!

{Confessions of a Cookbook Queen}  is one of my favorite blogs. Not only does she provide the most creative and scrumptious recipes and ideas ever BUT she is simply hilarious!

Bachelorette Backtalk - Eppisode One

WOW...That was rough! So many of these guys are total dorks!
Here are a few of my favorite quotes and quote summaries of the night:

Hi, I'm Jason...I can do a back flip.

Hunter: "Coming in for the hug"...now I gotta pee. (Um...gross!)

Kirk: "I made you a scrapbook"...with pictures my mom...what?

Chris:
Did you say Macrame ...that's impressive!

Casey: My dad actually cheated on my mom..(now that's a good 1st meeting talk)

Don't remember who but still hilarious:
In regards to Hunter playing the guitar: "He tries to be like romeo but he's the nerd that never gets the girl!"

"I think Craig's here to get more hair products."

Another thing I thought was so funny was the random crap these guys give her! Here is a list of the gifts Ali got tonight:
scrapbook
fishhook
sneaker keychain (Really...)
magic flower
fake ring
heart necklace reminiscent of best friend necklaces from elementary school...(wow!)

And my final thoughts for the night...
To the guy who for some reason chose to speak about premature ejaculation...let's hope being voted off on the first night will keep America from remembering you! I'm not even going to post your picture!

Craig...your hair is horrid.

And lastly...This guy got a rose...seriously?

What were the highlights for you? Do you have a favorite? I 'm sad to see that Chris was no where to be found in a single scene in the preview of the season so that doesn't look good! Anyway now it's all you, comment away and lets chat about this crazy show!

Do YOU watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette?

It starts Monday and I was kind of sick of the show so I didn't watch last season but my sister instant messaged me on Friday and said, "  Hey, didn't you go to school with Chris?"   Sure did! So I am definitely watching this season and am so intrigued! Let's watch together and then each Monday after the show I'll throw up a post with my thoughts and everyone can comment with their thoughts! Bad mouthing and teasing totally encouraged! C'mon...it's the Bachelorette you know half the guys are cast for our entertainment! Yay! I'm so excited, Go Chris!!

See It Again Saturday: Little Lace Flower

If you missed the Field Trip this week at A Few of My Favorite Things this is what we did:
Little Lace Flower

What you'll need:
Lace Trim - Felt - Glue Gun

Step One: Trace and cut two circles out of your felt.

Step Two: Apply a thin bead of glue to the outside of your felt circle.

Step Three: Stick the inside edge of your lace trim to the glue.

Step Four: Continue steps 2&3 in small increments.
(I used an old thimble to prevent burning my fingers on the hot glue.)

Step Five: When you get to the center just cut your trim and glue end down.

Optional Steps: Now you can either leave the lace flower as is or embellish the center:
(I found these adorable brads at Target)

You will want to make a pilot hole with your craft knife, then add your brad.

Now you have a cute little lace flower!
Isn't she pretty! You can use this so many different ways!
I choose to put it on a large bobby pin.
(When I make soft headbands I sew the elastic with a long overlap and opening so I can slide these puppies right in!)

To secure to the bobby pin slide you 2nd piece on felt through the center.

Now glue your lace flower on top!
Tada! I love the vintage feel & can't wait to wear it!
