Introducing our newest addition: Griffin James
Griffin James Avery
Born March 16th at 6:59pm
7lbs 12oz & 20.75 inches
I am so happy to introduce our newest little bundle to you! Isn't he precious! He is seriously an incredible little newborn! Already sleeping from midnight till 9:30am with a diaper change and dream feed at 5:30am. It's incredible! He rarely cries and LOVES the sound of his mommy and daddy's voices turning his head and opening his eyes really wide to the sound!
Asher couldn't be less impressed with his little brother however! He goes out of his way to avoid him and stares at him out of the corner of his eye so we "can't see him looking!" Each day he gets a little less annoyed that Griffin is here so fingers crossed! I know when they are older they will be great friends so I'm not to worried. But with Asher only 17 months old, he still wants to be the baby and be held which I understand. Lucky for us Griffin prefers to lay in his bed or on his bean bag for naps vs. be in our arms so Asher gets a lot of snuggles!
Griffin's arrival was pretty uneventful and I feel grateful I don't have a crazy birth story to share with you! It involved a lot of waiting and waiting...and waiting! I was scheduled for induction Monday, March 14th at 5am. Our great friends Tina & Nathan came over Sunday night and we watched a movie, ate some yummy food, took silly pictures of my belly (Ok so that was just me and Tina!) But regardless we had a blast. They spent the night so we could head off to the hospital first thing and not disturb Asher. Then they would take him over to my friend Breanne's where he'd be staying the next night. All went according to plan until we arrived at the hospital and were told they tried to call us and were canceling all scheduled inductions due to lack of nurses. WHAT!!! They said we were first on the call back list and they'd call us once they could fit us in. So back home we went, disappointed and emotional.
We both crashed on the couches with our cell phones in hand waiting for the call. A few hours later Tina, Nathan and Asher were up surprised to see us home! Tina and Nathan headed back to their home and I let Breanne know we were playing the waiting game. The waiting continued all day the 14th and all day the 15th till FINALLY we got the call to come in at 10pm Tuesday the 15th. We scooped Asher out of bed, dropped him at Breanne's and headed back to the hospital. Luckily this time we weren't turned away! The nurses got me all hooked up to the machines, started the pitocin and guess what...more waiting of course!
Progress was slow but steady on the Pitocin and the nurse kept upping the dosage till she couldn't increase it any more! I could feel the contractions but I wasn't in pain or really uncomfortable which was kind of annoying because it confirmed the lack of progress on Griffin's side of things. He apparently was totally content just chillin' in mama's tummy! Once I was finally far enough along my doc.came in to break my water. All the pain I hadn't been feeling hit me like a ton of bricks and the contractions were immediately intolerable. Luckily I didn't have to wait long for an epidural! With the contractions in full force however the monitors were showing that Griffin's heart rate was decreasing each contraction. The nurse had me shifting and moving into so many different positions to see if we could release the pressure on the umbilical cord. Not the easiest of tasks being numb from the waist down!
Then just like his big brother once he was ready to come...he came quick! I went from a 6 to a 10 in about 5 minutes and Griffin was making his exit! And just like with is big brother my doctor couldn't wait any long and had just left the hospital so the doctor on call delivered him! My doctor's exact words as she left at 5:30pm, "I'm so sorry but I have to go get my daughter from the nanny...you better not have this baby before 6pm!" Official time was 5:59pm - Hahahahah! The doctor on call couldn't believe how fast Griffin was coming and was almost yelling at the nurses since nothing was prepared! All worked out though and with three pushes and a brief pause while the umbilical cord was unwrapped from around Griffin's shoulder he was in my arms!
Incredible!
He was perfectly healthy and apparently happy! This baby smiles more than I have ever seen, it's so precious! We were moved into a recovery room and where we slept and spend the next day. We enjoyed the company of a few visitors who came to meet Griffin and then we were headed home that night! Since Griffin has been here we have been completely over whelmed with joy and love. I can't imagine our family without him now and am so excited to see him grow and learn!

The Final Count Down!
Oh my heck people! In two weeks I will have two children! Induction has been schedule for Monday, March 14th! CRAZY!!! Then I will officially have a newborn and a 17 month old! I'm headed strait to the loony bin I just know it! ;-)
Anyone else have kids that close in age? If so I'm open to all tips, advice, suggestions and words of encouragement!! I feel extremely lucky for how chill Asher is and his love for TV...I'm thinking that is really going to work in my favor the next few months when I'm ragged and sleep deprived!
I feel so behind with this baby, I have NOTHING ready! I think knowing it was a boy has made me slack on all the getting ready duties because I have pretty much everything. But I still need to set up his room, wash all Asher's old clothes and get them put away. But I did order the crib and dresser/changer today! About time eh! I got this convertible crib and dresser/changer. Picture colors are a bit off but they are both Black.
And in case you forgot the awesmness that is my custom Nursery fabric etc. Here is the story board again:
My incredible cousin Staci from Just Sew Sassy is hard at work getting everything done for the room and has already sent me the minky blanket which I am madly in love with! Wahoo! I can't wait to get everything set up!
I found this fantastic vinyl wall decal I'm just waiting on a custom listing for and that will be purchased too!
Awesome right!!!
I also came across this adorable Stuffed Animal tutorial on Make It and Love it today:
and I'm excited to use the fabric scraps from the room to make a few!
So anyway...LOTS to do in the next two weeks! Wish me luck! I hope to have pictures of the completed room soon! But probably not before pictures of the new baby boy! Eek! I can't believe he'll be here in two weeks...TWO WEEKS! Ok...gotta get to work!

Best Valentine's Day Ever!!!
I love Valentine's day! I admit I am a bit of a holiday junkie but Valentine's day is a favorite for sure! And this Valentine's day was the best one yet!
I started the day making 35 marshmallow lollipops! I had planned on dipping them in white chocolate and sprinkles...but after a epic fail on the melting front, plain had to do! Tip: Roll the skewers lightly in butter and the marshmallows slide right on!
Half of the lollipops were taken to Asher's very first Valentine's day potluck/party! It was fun but we didn't stay long. Chasing a 16 month old around in the already hot Arizona sun at 9 months pregnant - exhausting!
After some down time relaxing on the couch with an extra large ice cold Diet Coke I regained my energy (Thank you lovely caffeine!) and added a little Asher flair to the 2nd half of the lollipops! Yo Gabba Gabba Valentines? Yes, yes they are!!!
We then drove around delivering them to Asher's little friends! I had so much fun I literally was driving around from house to house with a cheesy smile on my face! I was like, bring on the poopy diapers, this mom stuff is so much fun!
Once home from that adventure I sat down to edit the pictures I'd taken a few days ago of Asher for Valentine's day! The shoot had not gone well so I was thrilled to have a few good ones! You can see my favorites from the shoot HERE.Then I made this little Valentine which I posted to Facebook & emailed to family!
That's when things when from great to best day ever! Present time! The hubs and I don't really do gifts for each other at Christmas since we're so busy buying, wrapping and giving to family & friends...not to mention the hit it has on our bank account! But we love it and so it's worth it! So Valentine's has always been a fun gift holiday for us. And this one...I will say it again, best Valentine's ever because look what I was spoiled with!
Spoiled...YES! And SOOOOO excited!
We finished up the day with pizza and a movie! (No not a heart shaped pizza...not worth the extra $5.00!) But delicious it was and it was a nice relaxing night! I hope you all had a fabulous day as well and I'd love to hear about it in the comments! As well as any tips, for using my new Silhouette!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Zoo Day! Feeding the Giraffe!
So Asher has LOVED giraffes since he was about 2 months old! Every time we're at the zoo we are either there too late to feed the giraffe or Asher is asleep. Today he was awake and we were their early AND thanks to the 365 Project I actually brought my camera! I metered out & snapped a close up of the big guy then handed my camera to a worker and told her to click away! She got a couple good ones I was so happy!
I had to put the food in Asher's hand then guide it to the giraffe's mouth.
My friend Breanne & her daughter Aubrey joined in on the fun too!
I love Aubrey in this picture! So cute!

Super Easy Cheesy Potato Soup & Possibly The Coolest Video Ever!
Recipe:
Super Easy Cheesy Potato Soup
So last Thursday was our Relief Society Christmas Dinner and who is our wonderful enrichment leader...yup, that would be me! In this case that meant baking 15 lbs of potatoes, 2 dozen of my Nana's Whipped Shortbread Cookies (recipe to come later), and 2 dozen rolls. Oh and I threw in 3 dozen peanut butter cookies for our freezer since well...the oven was on and the rolls hadn't risen enough yet. I will admit Asher was very much neglected that day as it was also a travel day for Daddy, to him this meant several episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba so I don't think he minded too much. Anyway my rock star of a committee member Ashley from Cute as a Fox had also made rolls and potatoes and when we were discussing what we should do with the leftovers she suggested Baked Potato Soup. I had never made it before so she forward me a recipe. Well we all know I can rarely stick to a recipe so I read about 3 or 4 different recipes and decided to combine what sounded good and make my own. Here is what I came up with and it was DELICIOUS!!! The hubs and I both went back for thirds...and so here I sit glutted and happy writing out this recipe before I forget!
*All measurements are approximate...did I mention I rarely measure either...oops!*
6-8 Potatoes Baked, Skinned & Chopped
1 Can Chicken Broth
1 Can Cheddar Cheese Soup
1 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
1/4 Cup Green Onions Chopped
2 Tbsp Butter
Salt and Pepper to Taste
1. In a large bowl whisk together Cheddar Cheese Soup, Milk and Sour Cream. Set aside.
-
2. In a large sauce pan heat butter until melted on medium heat.
3. Add green onion and simmer for 2-3 minutes until butter starts to brown.
4. Pour in Chicken Broth and bring to boil.
5. Add potatoes and let cook for a few minutes.
6. Reduce heat, add soup mixture, salt & pepper and mix well.
Optional:
At this point I used a potato masher to break up a few of the chunks & create a variety of texture.
Cook on med/low heat till heated through.
Bon Appetit!
Now normally this is the point I would try to take and upload an amazing shallow depth of field picture of the soup in a funky bowl with a little roll and a few strategically placed crumbs...but that's not happening. We're in the middle of moving and the fact I even made soup in the first place is a miracle! But I do have possibly the coolest/cutest video ever for you! We had just finished taking a load over to the new house and Asher was in a particularity adventurous mood so the hubs followed him around and put together this little video! (Make sure your speakers are on!) Watching him learn to walk is so entertaining! Asher loves all the room to roam in the new house, I can't wait to be all settled in over there!

The Great Baby Name Debate!
Alright you creative geniuses! I am hoping you can help me! The hubs and I can not come up with (agree on) a name for baby boy#2. I honestly feel like we just named Asher, how are we supposed to come up with another one so soon!
I'm due St. Patrick's day (March 17th) so I have some time but considering we don't even have a possibilities list, stress is starting to creep in! I have been making my eyes bleed looking at baby name lists that contain 10% cute and 90% crap and can't take it anymore!
So if you don't mind sharing please leave a comment with name suggestions! Names you like, names you've heard, names of your kids if you don't mind me possibly copying. I need all the help I can get!
And just because I can't put up a post without pictures
here is little baby boy#2 from our last Ultrasound at 18 weeks!

I just love my silly boy!

Baby Boy #2 Nursery {Part 1}
So I finally made some decisions on Baby Boy #2's nursery decor! I am so excited now I can hardly wait to get the room done! Here is a little sneak peek!
My amazing cousin Staci from Just Sew Sassy has been officially contracted to sew me all custom duds for this baby! Yeah she's awesome like that!
Here is the main fabric & inspiration:
Michael Miller Gray Bicycles
In addition to solids here are some coordinating Michael Miller fabrics I like.
(The exact ones we'll use are still undecided)

And look at the little number I snagged of Craigslist today!
This vintage wonder will serve as room decor when I'm not stealing it for photo shoots!
Here is the crib currently in the lead.
(We'll be getting the matching dresser etc too.)

The Great Wall Challange Link Up!
To all my organized crafters I need your help! You may remember this post:
Well I am sad/happy to report there will not be a Part Two! Well not really anyway. My husband recently got a new job for which he will be working primarily from home (hooray) with some traveling. BUT he is taking back the office! He needs 100% of the room to set up his new desk/computers etc. So it's back up to to the guest bedroom for me! But this time I will not have a table. I really want to keep the guest room a guest room and the closet is full of my photography equipment soooo I'm getting one wall! One wall for shelves to organize all my craft stuff. It has to be esthetically pleasing and orderly as to not scare guests away from the room or give them nightmares at night! I need to be able to quickly get and put back items I will be taking out to work on in the dining room. That's where you come in! If you have a great wall of organization to share with me and inspire me please link up so I can come check it out! I appreciate all your crafty organization help! I should also mention I will not be using the shelves shown here, those will be staying in the office so I'll be buying all new shelves/bins/baskets whatever I need so if you have a great product to recommend that'd be awesome too! P.S. I have one week to complete this transformation! Yikes!

This weekend I took a much needed TIME OUT!
It's true, this weekend I was blessed to attend
and what an incredible opportunity.
After missing the Friday night portion due to this excruciating low back pain I've been having I admit I was feeling less than motivated to go Saturday. But I knew I'd be spending the day with my awesome friends and being the social bee I am didn't want to miss out on that. We arrived a few minutes late (probably because of the length of time it too me to actually get into my friends car with said back issues). Anyway we arrived a few minutes late and I felt like I was walking into a book fair. Seriously? My "less than motivated" attitude turned to slight disgust. Ok so the reason I am here is to listen to all these women push the sale of their books which apparently I can purchase right here right now today! Annoying. To make matters worse because we were a few minutes late our group of 6 was split up to fill the few open seats that remained and I thought, "Well so much for hanging out with my friends today - stupid back pain" I was however lucky enough to sit with another whole row of wonderful ladies from my ward who had an extra seat three rows from the back of the room. I realized just how grateful I was for that when only a few minutes in my back was telling me there was no way in the world I was going to be able to sit though this thing all day and I had to get up and stand against the back wall in an attempt to alleviate as much pain as possible. By the first 20 minute break I was texting the hubs that he would most likely have to come pick me up but that since I didn't even get to sit with the girls I came with I wanted to at least make it through the lunch break as we all had plans to eat at a fun new restaurant.
Then things started to change. During the 20 minute break my large crowd claustrophobia began to set in and I had to walk a little faster than I had been while babying this sore back and it seemed to stretch it out a bit in a good way. When I sat back down in my seat I was able to cross my legs and contort my upper body just right so that the pain wasn't impossible and I was actually able to listen and *hear* Brad Wilcox's talk. I didn't realize until he was done that I had sat through the whole thing. And then Mariama Kallon came on stage. I had read her bio in the program and knew for me this would be the highlight of the day. (and therefore I could leave after lunch with my friends and cry to my husband about my sore back for the rest of the day.)
Mariama Kallon
But like I said, with Brad Wilcox's talk things began to change, once Mariama started to talk things took a full 180! Her incredible story pulled me in so deep you could have been breaking my back bone by bone and I don't think I would have noticed. The 35 minutes flew by in a blur of tears, laughter and admiration for this incredible daughter of God. I was one of the first to stand in offering a standing ovation and it wasn't until I was on my feet that I thought, "How did I get standing so fast, doesn't my back hurt?" It didn't matter. I quickly rushed to the little book fair area I had so begrudgingly passed by earlier and bought her DVD.

The lunch break followed Mariama's talk and I enjoyed a nice lunch with my friends. But unlike my desire to leave that morning I was itching to get back to that conference room, sit in that uncomfortable chair and continue to inspired and uplifted. I wish I could say my back had been magically healed but that wasn't the case. It just didn't matter anymore. The rest of the afternoon was wonderful and it truly ended too quickly. Once I did arrive home I was eager to watch Mariama's DVD but thankfully had scheduled a therapy session for my back, because once away from the intensity of the spirit...it mattered again...a lot!
Sunday morning while the hubs slept in and Asher played and watched Yo Gabba Gabba (yes he is still obessed but that's a whole other post!) I put Mariama's DVD into my laptop curled up on the couch and began to watch her story again. For those wondering the documentary portion of the DVD is very similar to her TOFW talk with additional interviews and pictures. One of those pictures was of her and my ex-boyfriend's sister as missionaries at Temple Square. I couldn't believe it and quickly sent off an email to Caraleen.
-When I started dating my ex, Mike, Caraleen was on her mission and it was now Christmas time. She found out on her phone call home that her little brother was dating a non member and actually receive permission from her president to call me and talk to me about the church. I had a lot of Mormon friends but everyone kinda kept it to themselves, even Mike. I had been invited to dances etc and I think even been to church before because of a Saturday sleepover, but Caraleen was inspired and called me that day. She bore her testimony, asked me some questions and invited me to receive a Book of Mormon and learn from the Missionaries. I accepted and started reading the Book of Mormon online minutes after the phone call.-
In my email to Caraleen today I mentioned I saw the picture of her and Mariama on the DVD and thanked her for calling me that day. She wrote me a very nice reply and included some fun info from her time as Mariama's companion. Here is an exert from the email about Mariama:
"I am so glad you were able to see Mariama at time out for women. She is amazing!! The last month of my mission she came to temple square and I had the privilege of being her companion/trainer. She taught me so much. Every day she would wake up before me and iron my clothes or shine my shoes or try and do some sort of service for me. I told her she didn't have to do that and she would just smile and say it was her way of saying thank you to me for teaching her how to be a missionary. She was always so positive and grateful for everything. When she found out she was coming to temple square she crossed stitched a fan for Sister Hinckley and a handkerchief for Pres.Hinckley so that she would have a gift for them. She didn't have a real needle so she used a small stick to do it. It was amazing. Her first day on Temple Square we were walking home to our apartment so she could unpack and my pager went off. It was my mission president asking us to turn around and come back to temple square because the ambassador of Ghana was there and he wanted Mariama to take him on a tour. The church had been trying to get a temple built there but were having some opposition. After Mariama gave the ambassador a tour he was so touched by her testimony and he said he would do everything in his power to help get the temple built in Ghana. A year later the ground breaking began for the temple there. I could go on and on about Mariama. She is truly amazing."
After receiving Carleen's email and doing some quick math and thinking about dates and I am pretty sure Mariama was Caraleen's companion during the time she was inspired to call me. I know this experience was meant for me and I am so grateful for the opportunity I received to hear Mariama speak and the chain reaction that followed. I am truly blessed. If you have had the pleasure to hear Mariama speak, buy her DVD and listen again. If you haven't heard her, find out where she is speaking and try to go and if that's not possible buy her DVD. Her complete TOFW talk is on the DVD as well as her Documentary. Her story will change your life.

I'm BBAAAAAACCKKK!
Well hello! I know you all must have thought I dropped of the face of the earth, but I am still alive!! Alive and kicking...well the little the little wiggler inside my belly sure is kicking!
That's right! I'm PREGNANT!
18 Weeks and we just found out today it's another boy!
My vacay from blogging was mainly due to extreme morning sickness which seems to be starting to pass, and well a complete lack of motivation and energy! And although I am starting to feel much better sickness and energy wise my back is messed. Like a complete disaster, I can hardly carry Asher and today, I can hardly walk. Arg. I am hoping a mix of Ibuprofen, Cranial Sacral Therapy and Massage Therapy will help. (Did you know you can take Ibuprofen till you're 28 weeks? I didn't and man it would have come in useful cause Tylenol seriously does nothing for me. Thank goodness I went to my Dr. today.) If any of you have experience severe low back pain during pregnancy and found things that help please share the knowledge! I need all the help I can get!
ANYWAY That's what's been going on with me the last 18 weeks! I have a few projects on my to do list that I am hoping I'll be able to do and share with you guys soon. And thank you to all my fellow blogger for all the great posts lately! I am getting so inspired by all of you this fall season! I love it!
I have done a little card making over the past few weeks so I'll share some of my favorites with ya!
(Disclaimer: pics were taken with my camera phone! Sorry - lazy!)

New Craft Room Adventures: Part One
Well hello! Yes it's true you may think I've fallen off the edge of the earth as far as crafting but don't worry! I'm still here!
Turns out the earth is round..who knew! ;)
Turns out the earth is round..who knew! ;)
My crafty craftness has just been on hold while we do some moving and shaking over here at the Avery residence. I have currently been held up in the guest bedroom while I do my crafting which results in me hauling all my stuff into the dining room, living room, kitchen...you get the idea! Aka: driving the hubs nuts! So it was time for extreme makeover office/craft room addition. You see we have this great office downstairs that NEVER gets used and had honestly became the dumping grounds for my photography equipment and various other crap stuff. How we accumulate so much stuff I'll never know! So three days in we are no where near finished but I thought I'd give you a little tour of what we have done so far.
-
You can see the hubs still has a lot of organizing to do on his side (right).
Matching computer desks used to sit on either side of the window...never used!
I now need to clear off the left shelves and figure out some kind of organization process for my craft supplies and random photography props as well as a new home for the obnoxious board game boxes!
The clock (top left) was a AZ Blogger Tour De Thrift Goodwill find for $2.50! Probably not a permanent home...just a holding spot! The picture holder I found at Ross for $5.99 happiness.
Close up of small shelf. I wanted something decorative here since its the first thing you see when you walk by or into the room. Also knew it would stop it from becoming a place to stack mail/random papers!
Another Ross find was this dried flower arrangement for $3.99. I love the color and it smells great!
The Mason Jar was a Goodwill find a while ago for like a buck. As I continue to decorate/organize you'll discover my love/obsession with glass jars!
The Bird cage also at Ross for $5.99 will act as a perfect little love note holder! :)
Another AZ Blogger Tour De Thrift find was this glass canister for $2.00! Apples were at Ross for $5.99 they however don't smell so great! Thank you glass jar with lid!
Well that's it for now! Please comment with organization tips and fun decorating ideas! I may be crafty but decorating is not my forte! Links to your craft room happiness are encouraged too so I can steal some ideas and get inspired!! Thanks everyone!
